Live Performance Streaming and Filming

Musical performances are where is all began for BH Broadcast.  Before live streaming and YouTube, founder, Paul Barton Hodges worked as a freelance audio engineer and musician after training the Royal College of Music.

Large-Scale Performances

Performances of 150 instrumentalists and singer are a regular feature in our calendar.  Working in cathedrals and concert halls we are used to rigging microphones and cameras to give the least obtrusive* foot print possible.

All concerts are recorded with redundant systems, with two multi-track audio recordings taken along with a live mix.

Audio-only recordings are also popular, and our work has been featured on BBC radio and independent radio stations.

BH Broadcast only uses the best audio signal path to ensure that your performance is captured in the highest quality.  Microphones from Neumann and Earthworks for the core of our mic selection and recording path from RME Audio give the cleanest and most uncoloured (by technology!) capture.

*access times and building restrictions play a large part in how we can setup.  It is important to discuss options with your venue as early as possible.

Music Licensing

Musical performances will need to be licensed for broadcast or reproduction.  Music hire libraries can also require notice if you intend to live stream and ther may be conditions of use.  BH Broadcast can help navigate through this - it need not be expensive if the correct options are chosen. Sometimes there is no additional cost, eg using Youtube's built-in licensing system
